Are there any guidelines for output size? I've been using about 10 MB per minute of source video (so I would set 450 MB for a 45 minute video), but this might be overkill.

What would you use?

it all depends on compressibility test if you're aiming for quality.
& to calculate the right size you should use MiniCalc.exe
