Problems with register FFDShow.ax in Zoomplayer 5.0

Have now installed ZP. When I wanted to register the filters it says can't register ffdshow.ax.
Have tried to unregister ffdshow.ax and register again but same problem

What can I do. Don't want to reinstall FFDShow again. Have just gotten Seesaw to work!

Just install ffdshow over the already installed version - it'll preserve your settings unless you deliberately choose to wipe them in the installer.

Using ZP's filter manager is a bit dangerous, if you have more than one copy installed somewhere. (Such as an old version installed by another program.) It'll try to register/unregister the first copy it finds, even if it's broken. When this happens, you must manually register the correct filter, or just reinstall. Deleting the bad version always helps, too.

It's mainly good to keep someone from panicking if they accidentally unregister a good filter, and don't know where it was or how to register it manually.

The registered filter manager works just like radlight, directshow filter manager, and the other filter managers out there. It's totally safe to use, although you can't register anything with it, unlike DSF.

Thanks for the answer. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I went start>run regsvr32.exe /u "c:\program files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax" and start>run regsvr32.exe "c:\program files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax".

I just followed the guide to register and it came with error message. But when verifying there was no problem. How do I manually register to get it to work and are we talking the reg. DB??

That is the manual method. (Well, there is a registry method, but it's more cruel and unusual than just manual.) If there's an error message then something else is wrong, reinstalling would be your best bet to ensure all required files are there. Just don't uninstall or wipe settings and everything will still be there. (Backup the registry key if you're paranoid.)

Get process monitor, filter for regsvr32.exe, include operations RegSetValue and RegCreateKey, run it and watch the fireworks. Very messy.
