Just looking for some guidance here...

I am planning on making changes to the Mp4Creator tool that is part of the MPEG4IP SourceForge project. This project is now in limbo because the main developer left and no one else has stepped up to take over. If my changes are very minor (which they are), do I version it as a new build of Mp4Creator, or do I just name it something entirely different and acknowledge that 99.9% of the code is from the MPEG4IP/Mp4Creator project?

Thanks

I would just release a version update. But I would ask the main developer first for his opinion. If he's gone and isn't coming back, then just take it over. It's better that someone does, rather than it just dying.

See: Response from main project developer (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1850870&forum_id=59136)

I have neither the time nor expertise to take on the admin of this project. Unfortunately, he didn't address my original question either. I guess I will build an unofficial release version. :scared:
