Hi All,

Is there any way to force AutoGK to treat a file as film and attempt an inverse 3:2? I've looked in the secret menu (CTRL-F9) and don't see anything that could help. I trying to crunch down some old TV shows that I've been keeping as 1080i MPEG-2 and I'm guessing all the logos and ads for upcoming shows are throwing off the detection just enough that it gives up and assumes it's interlaced video.

???

Hello and welcome to the forum,

You can either Force Film in DGIndex, or you can use Honor Pulldown Flags in DGIndex and then apply an IVTC in the AviSynth script. You don't do both.

You can't force the first option in AutoGK, but you can force an IVTC if - if - it's detected as a hybrid, which is the situation you're describing. That is, if this thing is a mix of hard telecine (the film itself), and true interlaced material (the ads), then you can force the IVTC. As a better solution, why don't you get rid of the ads before sending it to AutoGK?

If you have a log for what you think is a bad result, we might be able to learn more from it. You do know that many, if not most, older TV shows were shot on video and should be deinterlaced to 29.97fps, and not IVTC'd to 23.976fps, don't you?
