Hi whenever I try to play any video file in Linux my media player will crash and say that avsynth.dll is missing. (I think it uses it as, or as part of one of it's codecs)

Please can anyone advise where I can obtain this?

Thanks.

What Linux media player are you using?

If you are running under Wine then you should run the standard avisynth installer under Wine, it will put the avisynth.dll and other support .dll's in the system directory.

For a free standing Linux media player then there probably is a bug in the porting of a library. Linux shared libraries are *.SO and there is no avisynth.so There maybe a config option to control this.

"Avisynth.dll is missing" is unrelated to Avisynth--its simply the error you get if everything else fails, as Avisynth is the player's final fallback mode.
