Hello

I have recently obtained a video tutorial on certain subjects. As I enter the tutorial disc in the drive, the autorun runs normally and the welcome page appears. As I press the "start", the next screen appears containing the links to different chapters starting from Chapter 1. But as I click on the chapter link, a new explorer window opens up pointing to the .mov file representing the video for that chapter. So I have play every video file manually .

Why does not the tutorial runs normally? Its a Lynda.com training video and I do not get any error messages while running.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi!

From the FAQ, for registered owners, at the "lynda.com website":

http://www.lynda.com/faq/

The cd-rom in my Hands-On-Training (H.O.T) book is missing or is not working properly. How can I get another one?
We do not have those cd-roms here at our office, but you can request a replacement disk by contacting our publisher, Peachpit Press. On their Contact Form, please briefly describe the problem you're having and the details of your purchase. Be sure to include your contact information so they can contact you directly if they need any additional information. Click here to contact Peachpit Press.

Yeah, I dug that up too.

1) So, did you request and obtain a replacement CD? if so, did it resolve your issue?

2) Doesn't the "H.O.T." book, that the CD came with, state how to use the disc?

3) With no personal offense intended, I can't help but ask, based on your "careful" wording in other posts - When you state:I have recently obtained a video tutorial on certain subjects.Does this mean you've purchased this commercial product? (Which would entitle you to communicate directly with the publisher)

I believe you did not understand my last post. Before I place a request I always intend to try to solve the problem (keeping in mind not to void the warranty) as that saves a lot of my time. That is why I posted here, in case there is some easy solution available or maybe something in my system needs to be changed.

2) Doesn't the "H.O.T." book, that the CD came with, state how to use the disc?
I would not have bothered then to post it here, if the book could solve my problem.

Does this mean you've purchased this commercial product? (Which would entitle you to communicate directly with the publisher)

Anyway, it seems that you are rather too suspicious about certain things, and you have a very bad habit of assuming a conclusions even if there is nothing there. I never engaged my self in any unlawful activities so I hardly waste my precious thinking power (which may be very less than yours, but thats should not be your concern I hope) behind such small things as choosing words.

As I pointed out in my other thread, I hardly find your way of answering amusing and after the last post I consider your reply as quite offensive. You may be a far more older member than myself here, but that does not give you right to accuse someone directly, indirectly, explicitly or implicitly based on your baseless assumptions.

Please do not reply to my threads anymore. I do not require your help. Thanks for whatever you have done.

Sorry to hear that that you've taken offense at very direct questions and suggestions that are intended to help you in resolving your posted problems via a process of elimination.

I'll try here to provide some, albeiit lengthy, clarification:

The fact that you continue to respond less than directly makes it difficult to assist you.

For example, in this thread, you've still not explicitly stated whether:

1) You requested and obtain a replacement CD? if so, did it resolve your issue?

2) Your use of the word "obtained" means you've "purchased" the tutorial package?

Difficulty in assisting you, by asking questions as a process of elimination are also apparent in the thread you started regarding "Sonic Scenarist" and "Photoshop" at:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1055838#post1055838

In that thread, through the first few posts, you seemingly declined to state:

1) Exactly what Scenarist items you needed guidance for

2) Whether the Scenarist program's documentation and "Help" files mightn't hold the answers to your questions

3) Why the wealth of information I directed you to at the Scenarist website wasn't useful

and then, when I asked:By the way - Am I correct in understanding that, since your post in your mid-March thread, you actually sprang for the $5,000 "atom bomb" (your words) purchase price for Scenarist? You vaguely stated:Nope not yet. Though I shall have the opportunity to use it for some time and I have not yet obtained a copy and neither am I going to. Scenarist is not a common program and at least I do not know any way to get one lying around. As I pointed out, I shall have an opportunity to use it for some time

Once again, The fact that you continue to respond less than directly makes it difficult to assist you.

Nothing personal setarip_old, but it seems that our mental wavelengths do not match. In my opinion my answers were not vague, I simply do not like to answers questions which I think not related with the subjects. You see these things are very relative in nature.
The questions you have raised I believe were answered quite clearly.

never mind..may be better luck next time. :)

This is possibly the single most ignorant and arrogant thing I've ever read on this site. Setarip is a well respected member of this board, and it looks like he was genuinely trying to help you.
He has certainly been a help to me in the past...

Look, if you don't like the advice you get on this board, PLEASE go someplace else.

Why are you looking here, anyway? The companies' tech support and/or FAQs and Fourms would be a much better source.

Gents, let's stay on topic please. You can take your mutual recriminations to PM. Thank you.

If there is anything between me and setrip, we are going to resolve (or maybe not to resolve) amongst ourselves. Why do you make worthless comments not related with the topic? Your comments are not only useless but also insulting. I beleive moderators are here, and do not try to assume role of one, unless you become one. PLEASE remember this is a public forum

@neuron2
Thank you, I am trying to stay within as much as possible and I shall try harder not to answer worthless comments like the last one next time. :)
