ac3- windows media player

i have a friend who sent me a movie he said had a [ac3-audio]- that my windows media player wont play. can somebody tell me what i need to install to get this to work? i have divx 3.11 an dix 4 installed on the same comp. video opens fine. thank -you for any help.

oh yeah also when i try to cut the file in v-dub i get the error
[ acm-failed to suggest audio decompression format ]

You need the AC3 from AVI XForm filter and any AC3 decoder filter. Installing the Nimo codec pack should fix it.
