Hi!

I've got a dvd that was kinda of 8 gb, and I wanted it to fit on a single 4.7 disk.
There was just a title set, VTS_01_[0-8]

btw, when I compressed it with DVD Shrink, it recognized me, under "Main Movie", Title 2 and Title 8, that are the two part of the concert.
Anyway, I shrinked the two parts, merged'em down with VobMerge, recreated the IFO with IFOEdit, but...

If I play it on the standalone DVD player as well on VLC, after the end of the first part, it stops and restarts again.

I then watched it with PGCEdit, and discovered that the VOB/Cell ID of the first part is something like 1/[1-13] and the second part again 1/[1-15].

So i thought, well, easy!, just put the second part from 14 to 28.
But when I went to edit it, I discovered I could just edit the first 2 cells of the 2nd part, so I could put 14 and 15, and then stops.
Choosing 16 was not allowed; that's because - my personal thought, so it could be wrong- that somewhere there's written that "15" is the max number cell, since the second part ranged till 15.

So, where can I change this value, and let me being allowed to edit the VOB/Cell ID of the second part??

Thank you in advance for all the support and help!!

The VOB and Cell IDs are stored in the VOB files. In the IFOs, there are references to the VOB cells and PgcEdit can be used to change the cell that is referenced, but cannot be used to modify the VOB cells themselves.

I'm not sure you can fix the problem on your final DVD. IMO, it is best to start over. Before merging the VOBs with VobMerge, you have to renumber the VOB ID of the second set of VOB files. Change it to 2. Do not change the Cell IDs, as they are correct. You can use VidChanger (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/dvdtools.htm) to renumber the VOB ID. Then, continue your procedure normally.

Just process the DVD with DVD Shrink. It will split the VOBs for you. There are other solutions to do that, but IMO shrink is the easiest one. (If you don't want to reduce the size of a DVD-9, don't forget to change the compression type of the whole DVD to "No Compression".)

Create the IFOs first with IfoEdit.

damn, I feel so dumb...

trying to create the IFO for the merged file, I get
Could not find any VOB unit in VOB file(s)

I don't understand what you did, so let's start over again.

IMO, the easiest solution is to use VobBlanker, Menu Shrink or even PgcEdit or whatever to blank what you don't need and shrink the menus if you wish. Then use DVD Shrink to reduce the size of the whole DVD, and don't use re-author mode.

[...]Then use DVD Shrink to reduce the size of the whole DVD, and don't use re-author mode.

ah-ha!
that's a good hint!

I'll blank everything and then shrink "normally" then! ;)
thank you!

thank you very much r0lz for your help!

to get everything working, I had to keep some menus..

maybe there could be a way to keep just the two concerts, but I wasn't able to find out...
and some menus never killed anyone!

thank you again! :)
