More memory

I got total 1,5Gig of ram (PC2700), 512+1024. Does it give any boost, if i add one 512 module?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that i got XP.

It’s always better running memory in pairs. if you have a 1 gig stick already, just buy another 1gig stick of the same MHz
i.e. 400, 633. There isn’t much difference in price either.
Performance wise, It’s more noticeable going from 256-512
512 to 1 gig and so on.

Also if your computer is capable of dual channel RAM, then having 2x1gb in the correct slots will give a substantial memory bandwidth boost. You won't get this with mixed modules. 2gb is ok with XP, any more and you should go a 64 bit operating system (xp x64 or vista x64).

You could always sell the 512mb stick which would make up some of the difference between another 512mb and a 1gb stick :)
