VCD DAT files to MPEG2

I need to convert VCD DAT Files to MPEG 2 tried using TMPG but struggling a bit does'nt seem to recognize the file type does anyone know of a program or link or guide to help. I need the MPEG 2 File to go into SONIC MYDVD

I use VCDGear to convert .DAT to MPEG-1. After that TMPG will recognize the file type. Simply open the MPEG1 file and reconvert it to MPEG2 DVD Compliant using TMPG.
