View Full Version : Removing all Audio from Vob, IFO files except 1

I almost always delete all audio except DTS on my DVD's. If DTS isnt available, I go 5.1 AC3... If that doesn't exist I use the 3 or 2 channel versions...

Anyways, Most players see the blank Audio tracks, and attempt to play them leaving you with no sound. Manually changing these audio files works, but in some cases isnt always the best option.

For instance WMC in Vista has no options to change Audio, from Audio1 -> Audio2. I assume Audio1 was the AC3 that I removed and Audio2 was the DTS.

When I play it in PowerDVD the audio defaults to Audio1! If I include the DVD menus and manually select DTS, this has no luck either. I have to go into the options and select Audio2. All of this sucks because I want to put my Blue Tooth keyboard where it belongs (behind my TV) and be reliant on my Logitech remote only. This is one of choose situations that prevent me from doing that.

Sure the Media Center DVD player sucks, but it works well with a remote and it works with MyMovies... So for now its my only option as a playback device. I currently know of no addon that allows you to select the audio tracks through an advanced menu...

So how do I remove all audio except the one I want. And then have that one as default. Im using CloneDVD to get past they sony invalid file system protection, but then I move to Shrink DVD or VOB Blanker to re-author it, and I havent gotten these to do it. Maybe im doing something wrong, or that there is a tool that is better suited for this type of authoring.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks
GJ

Hi!

You may find some useful information in the thread in the "IFO/VOB Editing" sub-forum at the following link:

You probably already know about this, but just in case ....
Are you dead-set on keeping menus?

I've never had players look for "empty" audio tracks after using DvdShrink in Re-Author mode, and Un-checking the unwanted tracks and sub-titles. (then I right-click the title and set default to play the desired audio (not commetary track) and to hide the subtitles.)

But, I never keep the menu, so maybe that's why I have no problems.

No, I dont have any menus... and I did what you said... but this is after I did a rip from clone DVD with it extracting out the audio...

that shouldnt matter, but it doesnt seem to work after DVDShrink in re-authormode.

I may have to copy the whole disk using dvdcopy and then use DVDshrink to take out the crap... but I got disks that currently are stored that I cant get to play... even with DVDShrink as you mentioned

I almost always delete all audio except DTS on my DVD's.This may be the source of your problem, as the DVD-compliant standards require at least one .AC3 audiostream to be present...
