So I was looking for the nero aac codec and, guess what, it is nowhere to be found on neros webpage. Have they discretly removed the download I was so dependent on?

In light of this, what are some good free AAC encoders? Or should I just use Ogg (vorbis)?

CT AAC, download winamp and use lastes enc_aacplus.exe with winamp enc_aacplus.dll.

It seems to have mistakenly disappeared in the latest website update. I notified the responsible people for this, hopefully the page will be back soon.

@menno
Are there going to be any updates to neroaacenc or is it a dead project by now?

True, its just where to download it from (official nero site that is)!

The last time I checked was August I believe and today (and as today there were no traces of the aac encoder anywhere on nero's website I assumed the worst).
As burfadel said, where can we get that last version you talk about?

Later, man

I provided a bugfix update for the download package, I hope they will put it in immediately with bringing the webpage back.
Web team is working on putting everything back (has to go through proof reading, translation, etc. etc.).

Is the neroAacEnc_SSE.exe file working for you (2007.Aug.6 , 1.1.34.2)
It says:
Fatal Error : This program was not built to run on the processor in your system.

Mine is Athlon X2 4600 ...

EDIT: Official URL to Nero Digital Audio:
ftp://ftp6.nero.com/tools/NeroDigitalAudio.zip

Website for this currently down yet ...
