Component to S-Video

Hello, I bought a slim PSP (PlayStation Portable) which enables to watch the game image in the TV and thus recordable; however the only way to record is having it set to progressive and using either a component cable or another weird wide one, but my capture card only has plugs for Composite or S-Video.
I use DScaler to record and I was wondering if there's any cable that I could buy in the internet or ebay that could help me change the Component to S-Video or to know if that will be accepted by the Capture card and the PSP at all.

Well I tried searching already, and I found a cable that said the S-Video side has 7 pins, but when I checked my S-Video plug it only had space for 4 pins. So I guess it's not the correct cable. I'm new to this and I wouldn't want to buy the wrong one. So please help me if you would? :)

Is your component connection RGB or YPbPr?

I could find only YPbPr to S-Video. You referred to a "weird wide one". What is it exactly?

LOL Damn. That's what I was fearing. I guess Google couldn't help it...
To keep in topic then, what new Capture Card would you recommend?

I tried connecting the Component cables to the TV and then use a Composite cable from the Monitor Out plug into the Capture Card but it didn't work. It displays normal TV into the PC but not the PSP. Neither have sound.

S-video can only carry interlaced.

If the component output is progressive only, you're going to have a hard time converting it to interlaced!

Sorry if I've completely misunderstood what you're trying to do.

In the UK, there are products which will take 625-line analogue SD interlaced RGB video from a standard SCART connector, and output this via an S-video connector. The ones I've seen will not work with 525-line systems.

IIRC 7 pin S-Video is just regular (4-pin) S-Video, the additional pins carry composite signal.

S-Video should carry progressive just as well - why should it only do interlaced?The luma signal on S-video would be fine if it were progressive, but the chroma signal on S-video is a standard NTSC or PAL encoded subcarrier - these aren't defined for progressive signals. You could "just" double the frequency of everything, but I'm not aware of anything that would accept it. If you keep the timing and frequency the same as for interlaced, then the colour resolution will be terrible, and the colour bursts will sit in the middle of active video near the start of alternate picture lines.

I don't know if this helps but the original plug has 9 pins. Is there a cable that may help that way?
It has 9 pins on one end and connects directly to the card while the other one has Composite/S-Video plugs.
