HD-DVD 1080P .avi file to DVD-9

I have an avi file which is 1080P HD. It plays with a lot of stutter on my older computer. I would like to be able to record the image on to a DVD-9 and then play it in my new HD DVD player. Is there a method to do this without losing any of the HD quality? Please point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Why don't you just play your original HD-DVD on your new HD DVD player?

It's likely of higher quality than the .AVI you converted it to...

I do not have the original HD DVD....only the avi file.
