Just a quick link for those that have non-DVD video and want to convert them to DVD, but use the power of AVISynth until a time that DVD-RB Pro may offer this capability

Have a look at AVStoDVD I've been playing with and just set running on a poor quality very old B&W AVI to DVD with quite a few superslow filters to see what it can do to the source, as I use the same filters and functions for very old movies, episodes or animation on DVD

It can use HC, CCE, Quenc, Rejig encoders, basically anything avisynth can offer in terms of filters and appears to do what DVD-RB achieves when converting a DVD via DVD-RB, but from an AVI source or virtually any other video source when converting it to DVD then running it through DVD-RB just isn't feasable or are fed up with the atrocious quality that so called video conversion software offers in final quality, speed isn't always everything

Oh, and it can burn using IMGBurn

Not sure whether this belongs in this forum... seems like you'd put it in the same place as the link.

Sorry, it was just that a few people are looking for DVD-RB to be able to convert AVI to DVD, but thought this would keep people occupied until such time that DVD-RB 'might' have this feature

You know, supporting AVI to DVD isn't something that is really that hard to do... especially when you already have the multiplexing and authoring engine and are feeding them via AVISYNTH. I guess I should add that as an option...

I'm all for that :)

I've been patiently waiting for a way to feed my VirtualDubMPEG AVI output directly into DVDRB

Adding support for AVI to DVD is something I would like to see also.

how about something with menu templates? :)
Seriously, there are loads of tools that already do that, do we really want DVD-RB to turn into an all-in-one tool?!

IMO being able to input an additional source type (AVI) into RB is not even close to being analogous to creating menus for dvd authoring. Adding another input type like AVI just increases it's flexibility and broadens its appeal.

For what was a pretty small donation I feel I'm already getting more than enough from J. Dobbs so I don't feel comfortable requesting he do more work on my behalf. However as the majority of video files available for download from the Net now come in an Avi container this would be a welcome addittion and has been said would broaden the appeal of DVD-RB and net J. Doobs more paying customers.
