Microsoft Mediaroom / BT Vision Recording Format

Does any one know what video format is used for Microsoft Mediaroom / BT Vision?

The box I have is the Phillips DIT9719, (AKA BT V-Box).

I can mount the drive under Windows, and find what appear to be the recordings. Each is exactly 1GB in size and has a ".slc" extension. I cannot play these in VLC or Windows Media Player. Opening with Firefox (yes, I know this will not work, but tried to find a plugin) prompts me to install a plugin for the "video/x-ms-iptv" video format

Any ideas?

I think it has some sort of "virtual filesystem" spread over several 1G files. I would also guess the content is stored encrypted.
