I'm running W2K Pro on a Pentium II laptop, with no option to upgrade to WinXP. My contract assignment requires that I watch several MPEGs they produced. These are of such a flavor, however, that they'll seemingly only play back in WMP 10/11. However, WMP 10 cannot be installed on a non-XP machine. The company won't convert the MPEGs for me, and I'm running into a brick wall regarding borrowing someone's XP laptop.
I've tried several converters (Bink Converter, et al.), with no success. The Divx Converter comes close, I suppose, but gets hung up regarding an AC3 filter and comes to a screeching halt. I visited the Divx website to learn more, but non-video experts need not apply (read: I don't get it). And the Divx support team is negligent in responding to my plea for help.
Anyone have a brilliant idea, other than look for employment elsewhere? Incidentally, I can't run these at home on my home XP machines due to my 7-hour round trip commute (!) and the irritating need for sleep. (Like I said, "...besides look for employment elsewhere?")
