How to pack XVID into .AVI?

Well, i've done some search but couldnt find out how.
A friend of mine sent me an video with an MP3 and an XVID stream but it was inside an MKV container wich WONT play on my dvd so i thought of coverting it into avi by changing the containers.
I've allready extracted the streams and have here the rawxvid movie and the mp3 audio that i wanted to mux into .avi.
Wich program you guys recomend me to use to mux them into an .avi container?

you can use virtualdub(mod) for example in "direct stream copy" mode...

or

avimuxGUI: just drag'n'drop your files into the window and press start. Maybe you need to disable avi openDML format in the options. there are dvd players which can't read it...
