Are they purchased commercial DVDs?

@buckster67
If they are purchased, commercial DVDs - Do they PLAY on your standalone DVD player?
If not, return them to the place of purchase in exchange for new replacements...
BTW - If you are referring to the same two releases you asked about in the "Decrypting" sub-forum at:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=130238
"Ferryman" (First Look Studios) and "Insatiable" (ThinkFilm) are from studios that have, thusfar,not used any "special" or newer copy protection schemes...

1) Again, have you tried playing these DVDs on a standalone DVD player?
2) Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your burner. Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US

Try upgrading the firmware on your dvd reader / writer.
Also try burning to a different type of media - for example I have a sony vaio laptop and it will not work with Maxell CD but loves their DVDR.
Lastly try burning at a slower speed.
Lastly replace the burner with a different brand - plextor is the best followed by pioneer.

yes all you needs is to clean up the lens and i would recommend you to open your player for better cleaning but be careful as we all know that LENS are too sensitive...

DO NOT open your drive - purchase a cleaning disk instead.
