I've got an hp 840x dual layer dvd burner that has been working fine for about a year now. Suddenly today when I put in a blank disc (Memorex dvd+r dl) it only sees it as having 4.7GB free space. Emailed Hp and haven't heard back. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this before. Have successfully burned dual layer dvds from the same spool, so I know the media is not the problem.:thanks:
:stupid:

Have you tried any other disks from the spool?

yes, as I said, the media does not appear to be the problem.

Hi!the media does not appear to be the problem.1) Just to make certain, load the same piece of blank media on a different system

2) Did you purchase the media from a retailer, or from someone on EBay?

The only other device I have to put it in is a Sony single layer burner. When I put it in there it says "incompatible format." I bought the dvds from compusa, but it was some time ago.

The only sure way to determine WITH CERTAINTY that the SPECIFIC disc is or isn't DL (and that your present burner is or isn't at fault) is to check that disc on another system that is capable of reading DL media...
