I use dvd decrypter and then i use auto gk to convert to a avi video file. When i have the vob files, i input it in the auto gk. Then i use preview to see the video before i encode it. When it's about to preview, an error message appears. It says, "A field error transition was detected. You may need to use Fix D2V tool to repair this stream." What does this mean? How do i fix this?

ok. i'll try it, but what is the cause of this? The stream contains a field order transition.

I tried to preview the video and encode it, but i kept on getting an error message about "Force film mode not supported for film repeats." What does this mean? I want to check my options, but what must it be to work properly?

This is now the second time I heard this. The first time I asked the poster to post a link to a VOB fragment so I could examine it, but he never did. So, if you'd like to post a link I can have a look at it. I'm the guy you want because I implemented that code in DGIndex, which is used by AGK. Maybe len0x will comment as well.

what link? Do you mean the codes in the auto gk log window?

No, I mean exactly what I said. I need to see your source stream. You can't give me the whole thing, so you give me a VOB fragment. You can't attach it here, so you upload it somewhere and then post the link.

sorry, but i don't know how to do that. Is this a temporarly problem for the program?

sorry, but i don't know how to do that. Well, if you really care about fixing your problem, you'll do some research and figure it out. Here's some pointers for you to help your research: ChopperXP (to cut your VOB) and megaupload.com (a place to upload the cut VOB). I assume you do know what a VOB is. If not, you should start by finding that out.

Is this a temporarly problem for the program? Hmm, now you've got me all confused. :) Maybe you could clarify that for me?

I can only assume that some sources were always problematic like that but only 1.4.9 version of DGIndex pops up this dialog in CLI mode. That's why I suggested using AutoGK 1.46b where I bundled 1.5.0b2 of DGIndex to prevent that. This obviously won't solve the real problem, just hide it and I'm not sure what effect it has on the final encode (may be none).

Yes, earlier versions of DGIndex automatically fixed the field order. Now, you have to do it manually. I should do something about this so that automated tools have a way of proceeding. Probably, the pop-up should have a YES/NO button for choosing whether to correct or not.

How does current 1.5.0 beta handle it?

It just pops up a warning and says you better look into this and fix it if necessary. I thought it would be an improvement to add the "Fix? Yes/No", but for unattended operation I don't know whether to assume Yes or No. Sometimes one is correct and sometimes the other, depending on the stream pathology. Your thoughts?

I'm having the "A field error transition was detected." message and don't know what to do so I'm hopping you can help me.

It's a DVB recording and can't understand why it's doing this.

I did try to do the Fix D2V with DGIndex but I get stuck with files that I can't load in AutoGK.

@Suppy

You have a case where you need Fix D2V. Tomorrow I will release a new beta of DGIndex. When you get the popup, you'll need to answer Yes. Then AGK should be able to proceed normally. You'll have to hack AGK to use that beta version of DGIndex and DGDecode. I can't help you with that but I understand that it is easy to do. A quick workaround for that clip is to start your project in by one GOP and also clip one off at the end (there's another transition at the last frame), but I don't know if you can do that in AGK. I know diddly squat about AGK. :)

How did 1.4.8 behave in that respect? Did it assume "Yes"?

Actually, I misspoke, the current beta assumes no silently for CLI operation. IIRC, 1.4.8 popped up a warning and assumed no. I am thinking now for CLI to not pop up a warning and assume yes.

That would be good. Thanks.

I have the same problem ... A field transition was detected. I can manually fix the d2v file, but it is not clear to me how to get autogk to use the fixed file. Any ideas?

First of all Welcome to the Forum!

upgrade to latest dgindex (1.5.0b4) (unzip into dgindex folder of autogk )

on latest change there is the autofix for those files (when using dgindex by command line)

so, how can i convert my video files? Why is there still this error problem, what can i do? I don't know anything on how to fix this, i just use it to convert my videos. any other programs that you recommend that i can use to encode my vob files to other video files like into avi, since auto gk is down right now?

@Pwetson

Hi!

What is the Title and Region of your original, commercial DVD that you ripped with DVD Decrypter?

I have the same problem with the North American (region 1?) version of Madagascar.
