I liked to share this with you after many tries I found this is the best settings, and i had used dvbdream tv window as my example for capturing you could use any player window to capture from as well
1st my PC setting as follow ;
P4 2.8 Ghz
512 RAM
GeForce4 MX4000 (old but good)
Windows XP SP2
1024X768 75Hz screen refresh
Techsmith Camtasia Recorder (software)
Now my guide for best capturing:
Best setting for capture without or very few dropped frames is
(if your V card is nvidia )make 3d setting in nvidia control pannel for best performance or balanced
you should use "Reclock filter" (http://reclock.free.fr ) instead of Default direct sound in dvbdream or the player that you use to capture from to elemenate the dropped issue and the null frame capture
You should to set VMR9 mixing to false in Media player classic (version that in klite mega codec 1.56 or newer)"i found it decreasing the load slightly on CPU)
Capturing is in window setting not region not fixed area this is very important
Start camtasia recorder and make periority high in task manager (better from Dtask manager)
Start dvbdream make and make periority high from the options
make widow size of dvbdream of for [P4 2.8Ghz, 512ram & Gforce4] window size of [448x336 (4:3) ie; true 1:1 pixel ratio] is great option or less with sonic cinemaster be sure that you are enabling vmr from control pannel and disabling hardware acceleration in cineplayer from the control pannel too Do not use disabling choice in techsmith camtasia recorder , remember the window of watching in dvbdream should be tv window for better results and uncheck always on top option in it.
to stay stable and no dropped frames
Capturing is in window setting not region not fixed area this is very important
choose xvid for capturing video with this setting 25.0
and xvid settings are: bitrate 800 or higher especially in sport or action capture
level: unrestricted better or advanced simple @L4 more setting ; glopal motion compensation is false and all are false too except
B-VOPs true and set as it is and Packed bit stream is false
Use pixel aspect ratio 1:1 or you may try Display aspect ratio is 4:3
Single pass Bitrate
Bitrate is 800 and should be higher especially in sport or action capture
And from more option in Single pass Bitrate : Reactionary delay set to 4 and other two options to 8 for averaging period and smother is 25.
Quality preset is:
Motion search is 4 high
VHQ mode is off
VHQ for B frames is false
Chroma motion is false
turbo is false
I frame interval maximum is 300
Frame drop ratio is 0
Quantization from 1 to 31 in all
and trilles is false
Audio setting as you like it and capture it from default recording device
and interleaving is every second when you use Reclock filter or every frame if you use the default direct sound
and Capturing window is in window setting not region not fixed area ok
