How Can I Delete These Audio Entries?

I just started using VOB Blanker to strip/blank such things as movie trailers, extras, and unwanted audio tracks off dvds.

I have a dvd that has 5 audio tracks:

- 1: Eng 2.0 AC3
- 2: Jap 5.1 AC3
- 3: Jap 5.1 DTS
- 4: Eng 2.0 AC3 (Commentary)
- 5: Eng 2.0 AC3 (Alt. Commentary)

Using VOB Blanker, I strip audio tracks 1, 3, and 5 leaving me with the 5.1 AC3 and director's commentary.

Now, even though those audio tracks are gone, the missing tracks still show up during the dvd navigation. Also, since the 5.1 AC3 was track 2, the main movie defaults to not playing audio.

How can I edit the dvd so it only shows the 2 remaining audio tracks and how can I remap them as tracks 1 and 2? So far the most I can do is disable the menu buttons for the 3 deleted tracks using MenuEdit but that is all.

It's a complex question, that has already been debated many times.

In short, you can delete the references to non-existing audio tracks with PgcEdit (in Domain Stream Attributes.) But, of course, the default audio stream and the audio selection menu will be wrong, as, for example, the button leading to track 2 will now select the commentary. This is why VobBlanker doesn't remove the references.

Another, safer method is to use the DVDShrink plugin to check if it is safe to remap the streams, and if it's the case, use DVDShrink to remove them (with the remapping option enabled.)

If it's not safe, you will have to fix the VM commands yourself. That's complex to explain, as the method depends of the original authoring of the DVD. Therefore, I suggest using another trick. Go to Domain Stream Attributes, and copy exactly the characteristics of the second stream on the first one, and on the other unused tracks. You should have something like that:

- 0: Jap 5.1 AC3
- 1: Jap 5.1 AC3
- 2: Jap 5.1 AC3
- 3: Eng 2.0 AC3 (Commentary)
- 4: Jap 5.1 AC3
(Note that I have modified the numbering of the tracks as they are zero based.)

Then, copy also the original track numbers in all PGCs of the domain: select the first PGC and open the PGC Editor. Modify the audio streams assignments the same way you did the stream attributes. You should have the 5 first audio buttons enabled, with those streams: 1, 1, 1, 3, 1. If there are more PGCs in the domain, repeat for all PGCs. (You can copy/paste all tracks at once via a popup menu available in the "audio streams" area of the PGC editor.)

You can also hide the useless menu buttons in your audio menu.

Now, you will be able to select any track and hear something, and the default track will be track 0, Jap AC3. Of course, 4 streams will be identical, but that's not a big problem IMO.

Is that all I have to do? Will that close off all the loose ends? It just seems too easy.

I dont have a menu, I want to keep this real simple... I have tried to set the default audio stream using DVD Shrink Re-Author -> Drag the Video -> One audio is shown (2. DTS 5.1-ch English) -> Right Click Title1 -> Set Default Streams -> 2. DTS 5.1-ch English

Copy DVD, open up in a number of players and they all play 1. (which is BLANK)

The DVD Shrink Preferences "Logical remapping of Enabled Streams" doesnt work either... Triing PGCedit, but It is one beast of a program... hard to get to what I want... Tried PGCEdit, and I dont know what to do, where to start, or what to look for... my jaw kinda drops and you would here a slight, uhhhh...

Please Help, This is really ruining my DVD Library on my video server. I dont want to have to store all the audio files... I will never have more then 1 audio stream, and if I do then I will keep it to that particular title. I just need to make all my main movies default to the only audio available, and delete the audio that doesn't exist... I am lost. I dont even know what a PGC is...

In a re-authored title, the new 1 will be DTS. You can check this in PgcEdit if you like. Open up the reauthored project and highlight the title and Ctrl-A. The audio stream should say 6 channel DTS.

Where you are probably running into issues is that you need an AC3 stream on a DVD.

If you want it really simple, why don't you remove all audio streams but one in Shrink? This way, you can be sure that the remaining stream will be played.
