I used the xmpeg guide at www.doom9.org, and it works pretty well. File size is perfect, picture is great, sound is great, the sound is synced with the movie, but if I try to skip to the middle of a movie, the frame where I left is frozen on the screen, but the sound is playing normally from the middle of the movie. I don't understand why this is happening, I followed the guide, and have not run into any other problems. Onlything I am confused about is under the general tab, the compiling time. how do I figure out how many seconds the film is? I cut out the credits so the film is shortened, how can I find out exactly how many seconds is left, or do I need to do something else?

This has to do with the keyframe. What the keyframe does is depending on how many frames you set it to (e.x. If you have a 23.97 ftps video, and you are and should be aiming for a keyframe every 10 sec. multiply fps by seconds to give you 239 keyframe) it will put a marker in the video. This serves as a skipping reference point. The video will only skip to a keyframe which really is just a highly compressed frame of the video. So, about 10 seconds is fine but in Xmpeg be sure that you multiply by the ftps. I ususally always go for an integer of 300 for that setting. It works for me.

I hope that helps you.
