DVDShrink no longer burns

For many months DVDShrink has gone on to burn the DVDs with Nero6.
I have not knowingly changed or updated Nero, but in the last few days DVDShrink just leaves the files in the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders and I have to manually burn!
I have since updated to Nero 6.6.1.15 but DVDShrink still does not burn.
Have I missed something obvious? I hope so!

Check under Edit->Preferences->File I/O that burn with Nero is checked and under the Backup DVD options, Target Device tab that your burner is selected under "Burn with Nero".

If Shrink is missing the Nero options entirely then first make sure you have Nero and DVD Decrypter installed then reisntall Shrink last so it can pick up the Nero options.

Consider also outputting to hard drive or ISO image and burning with ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) (it's free and way better than Ner0).

Thanks for that and sorry for taking so long to respond.

I have checked and the "Burn with Nero" is still checked.

Under Preferences the Target device is showing as DVD-5

Is there anything else I should check?

Thank-you for your suggestion. I would like to stay with the Nero option which has worked previously for ages and I am comfortable with that. It is just the auto burning which is missing and I really think I should be able to get that back.

As I said when DVDShrink has created the DVD folders (but not burned the DVD) I can burn manually without a problem. I'd just like it to do it auto as it has done for so long.

Hi!I have since updated to Nero 6.6.1.15 but DVDShrink still does not burn.Sounds like you've overlooked a most critical part of the post by "wmansir" - In order for DVD Shrink to automatically burn using NERO, NERO MUST be installed BEFORE you install DVD Shrink.

Since you now have both installed on your system, you should UNinstall DVD Shrink, reboot, and then REinstall DVD Shrink (and reinstate its settings regarding burning as you've previously indicated), and reboot again...

Thanks for your advice, but in my first I did say that 'untouched' DVDShrink had stopped burning automatically.
My updating of Nero was afterwards and mostly to see if that would 'kick' DVDShrink back into auto burning.

Are you suggesting that it is necessary to re-install DVDShrink whenever Nero is updated?

I am also not sure where DVDDecrypter sits in this as I run DVDD first to create the files on disk from the DVD then seperately start DVDShrink.

I have used this combo in this way for some 18 months and it has worked fine until around a week ago. It is just the autoburning which has failed.

No, unless it is suggested otherwise in whatever software, I always update by running the update programme and letting that manage whatever has to be done.
I suspect the latest update file for Nero7 updates insitu and doesn't uninstall first.

So I am still with the same situation that all settings for DVDShrink seem to be correct (I had no reason to change them) and yet it still just dumps the files in the output directory and I have to burn them 'manually'.

You're adding confusion to your stated situation, as you've not previously mentioned v.7.xxx at all.:I suspect the latest update file for Nero7 updates insitu and doesn't uninstall first.Going from v.6.xxx to v.7.xxx is not an upDATE, it's a full upGRADE.

Instead of "talking it to death", why don't you simply uninstall BOTH NERO and DVD Shrink, reboot, reinstall NERO, reboot, reinstall DVD Shrink and reboot (And then set DVD Shrink so that it looks for NERO automatically to burn)?

This is a proven procedural sequence that has resolved your stated problem for many others...

Thanks for paying such close attention. I made a mistake, I had and still have Nero6, so the update was for that!

The point of me asking the question here was hopefully to find the 'switch' to make the current set-up burn automatically again. I wanted to avoid the hassle of uninstalling both apps and reinstalling them!

Often I find it more effective to find the cause of the problem and fix that than just change it all and be none the wiser. Afterall it may occur again! Or indeed may not even solve the problem!

I just noticed the following in your earlier post:Under Preferences the Target device is showing as DVD-5That is the setting for "Target FILESIZE", not "Target DEVICE", which shows up when you select "Backup" (Then click on dropdown arrow next to "Select Backup Target")...

O.K. it looks like I take the 'major dummy' award for this week!!!

Yes the Target device was set for Hard drive and if that is the cause (as I am sure it is) then I must have clicked it by mistake before I first noticed the problem!
My only defence is that, without looking closely, I assumed it was related to the Tempoprary files setting just below. But that is pretty thin!
