I am getting a new DTV card for my HTPC (This will be my 2nd DTV card in the system) But I want it to also capture analog for archiving old vhs.
What I want to know can the Hauppauge cards capture PAL and NTSC? I live in Australia so 99% of my footage is in PAL. But my Uncle got a Hi8 video camera when traveling in the US and now wants to put all of his videos (a lot) on DVD.
Normaly I would use my MiniDV camera to capture vhs or other analag, but it can't capture NTSC (Although I haven't tested it with my new Canon HV20 HD camera).
I can get Hauppauge HVR 1100 cheap localy, but dosen't say if I can record in NTSC via the SVideo port, but says that it is PAL tuner.
P.S. Can this card use VirtualDub or other software, or do I just use it supplyed software (mpeg2 encoder)
