MobiDVD - free XUL-based DVD/VCD/CD ripper

MobiDVD is a free all-in-one DVD/VCD/CD ripping software developed with mozilla XUL, which can rip video and audio content for playing on portable video devices such as iPod, PSP, iPhone, 3GP Cell Phone, PDA, Apple TV, Zune, Archos, MP4 and MP3 mplayers, etc. with high quality and fast speed.

If you see a software called "Coolsoft DVD Ripper (http://www.secoolsoft.com/dvd-ripper/index.htm)", never buy it. MobiDVD is the totally same software but distributed for free.
Coolsoft company contracted me to develop the software for them. But they broken the contract and disappeared before they should pay me for my work. Recently I noticed they are still selling the software. So I decided to give my work to the public for free and stop them from making money from my software.

I cannot even find them. The person contacting me has changed his phone number. Their company is registered outside my country and they are selling the software abroad too.
Now I just hope people can spread the word so no one will purchase from them.

MobiDVD 1.0.0.2 has released with a fix the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM enumeration issue.

MobiDVD 1.0.0.3 is released with improved converting performance.

I downloaded and installed all of the MobiDVD versions 1.0.0.1 to 1.0.0.6. from sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xulplayer/files/xulripper/)
All installers showed the same behaviour: after installation I get an message box saying "This copy of MobiDVD has expired. Please register or download an updated version". When I OK this box away I get a window with a header "Coolsoft DVD Ripper" which prompts me to enter a registration code. When I press the [Later] button the program is closed and I this happens every time I start the app. When I simply press [OK] I get a message that the registration code is invalid and the program closes. I am getting the impression that Coolsoft is preventing me from installing it, as they commercially sell the same software under their own name. I don't want to deal with Coolsoft.

I would just like to know ho to properly install the (free,right?) MobiDVD software, preferably version 1.0.0.6.

You don't have to deal with Coolsoft. It looks like stanleyhuang just forgot to remove the hard coded expiration date when he converted the trial version to the free version.

MobiDVD 1.0.0.6 will only start before May 2009. All you have to do is set your system date to 2008 (or earlier), start MobiDVD, and as soon as the software is running reset your system date to the current date.
