I just finished burning a DVD after doing the following:
Capturing, with JVC VCR (internal TBC active) to AVT-8710 TBC to ADStech Pyro via S-video, using WinDV.
Cutting, pasting, and editing with Premiere Elements 3.0. I had to, because I discovered that really bad tape errors would case capture to crash (if I didn't stop and restart WinDV's capture, it would capture garbage from that point forward).
Exporting Video from PE3 to Microsoft DV-AVI (29.97 drop-frame, bottom-field dominant)
Encoding to MPEG-2 using HCenc, with FFT3D to denoise and slightly sharpen the video through Avisynth. Once again, indicated 'interlaced', 29.97 drop-frame, bottom-field dominant.
Authoring to DVD using Ulead DVD Factory 4.
The problem is, in more than a few places, it looks like the top/bottom field order got switched. But the apparent switches seem to have taken place after noise glitches. So... I'm wondering... is it possible for either of the TBCs or the Pyro to accidentally drop a FIELD, capture two odd or two even fields in a row, and thus invert the field order until the next time it happens? Or is it something that's absolutely, positively, guaranteed to never happen... and if it does, it's the fault of premiere, hcenc, or Ulead DVD Movie Factory?
