The New Mainconcept Reference GUI Encoder has been released :)

both of the next Generation codecs are now available as STD and PRO VC1/H264 versions the difference is that the Pro version support CBR (esential for HD-DVD/Blu-Ray), Multi Cpu, many instances, and more then 20 mbit compared to the STD versions of both.

Yeh, and I've been screwed as there is no upgrade path for the version I bought 6months ago, and the bug for interlacing still hasn't been fixed in the version I payed for. Seriously people, don't give them any money!

Is any noticeable quality difference since their h264 Encoder v2.1.0? Did they finally implement a constant quality mode?!

Seriously people, don't give them any money!Well, I can't find HOW to give them money i.e. I see a "Free Demo" version which makes watermarks, but can't find a price anywhere!!!??! What's it cost anyway?

encoder is free, you pay for codecs
here is basic AVC codec http://www.mainconcept.com/site/consumer-products-4/h264avc/information.html for 590$
and PRO version http://www.mainconcept.com/site/consumer-products-4/h264avc-pro/information.html for 2290$

Cool, only $2,300?! Definitely worth it! I'm sick of paying top dollar to those corporations like "x264" who con you into buying their locked down, sub-par bloatware. Sign me up, baby!!

For anything other than personal use essentually, you're 'supposed' to use a licensed product :)
