hi guys, i need help with a few problem

1. when i install wmp11, it will install wmv9 codec (encode decode) also, correct?

2. now i need to convert some files into wmv 8 or 9,
but i can't do it (i tried super and wmencoder). i currently install k-lite, zune software, autogk. Using gspot, i can check i have wmv 7 8 9 decoder, but no encoder.
Is it the problem, or the encoder just come with the software?
encoder software (wmencoder? but it is not working)

3. does k-lite include encoder (like wmv9), i afraid when remove it, it also remove the encoder, therefore cant encode
i reinstall k-lite but it does not help
thx

Decode yes, encode I'm not sure. Windows Media Encoder will definitely have the encoder.

encoder software (wmencoder? but it is not working)Windows Media doesn't encode through Video for Windows, which is the interface many older encoding tools use. Get the Windows Media Encoder or one of the many other free utilities in the New and Alternative Video Codecs forum here. My personal favorite is the command-line WMCMD.vbs.

There are actually two WMV9 encoders; the real one, which encodes to a .WMV file, and the WMV9VCM encoder, which allows you to put WMV video in an AVI files. The latter is somewhat outdated and can be downloaded separately, but is generally not necessary.
