Since some devs and admins are quite busy or "disappeared" the megui project needs more "fresh meat" to go on.
As you may know Charleski, Dimzon, Doom9 and Godhead are no longer actively developing megui and i will join this list soon and wont come back coding for a while.
Berrinam is also busy and he contributes as much as he can in his spare time. Kurtnoise just joined the developing but the project cant rely on 2 persons only, coding in their free time.
So, if you're interested in contributing to the megui project, even in your free time, even for bugfixing only, please post your comments here and we'll have a more detailed discussion.
I would like to hear the other admins and devs opinions too.

I agree with everything you said. In addition, there's a page I wrote on the MeGUI wiki about contributing to MeGUI:

There might be a need for something else: having time to write code isn't the only factor.. merely reading through all the megui posts in this forum is daunting and has stopped me from considering taking up work on it again. The number of users means that a lot of report are incomplete or simply stem from a bad system / megui configuration and all the time it takes to separate the good from the bad means you end up spending very little time writing code.
Thus, it would be useful to have some kind of second level support.. people who may not necessarily have the coding skills, but have a very good understanding on how the software works and would help rate problem reports into a several categories and stop issues that have a high probability of not being a bug from even getting to the developers, while at the same time feedback back information as to where users get stuck and potential ways to rework the dialogs to prevent users from making the same mistakes in the future.

Someone is spamming it. I reverted one page, but i see that a lot of pages are spammed. You might want to require registration (as we did with avisynth.org).

I am quite happy to become part of a level 1 support wall for this project, but there are a few things which would make such a job a lot easier. The first would be better issue tracking ability. So far I can think of two ideas:
Install awesome bug tracking software onto the mewiki server and make everyone use that. So far I haven't found this awesome software, I dislike both the SF.net tracker and bugzilla. Gemini (http://www.countersoft.com/) is awesome, but windows only.
Use a dedicated forum for bug reporting & feature requests. I don't think it would belong on doom9, as these forums require registration to post, and it's not really in the same tone as the other boards here. Something like the CCCP forums (http://www.cccp-project.net/smf) is what I'm thinking of, it could belong on the mewiki server as above too.
Problems with both of these is that they move the development further from doom9.org, which might be required, but is certainly not desirable.
ps, update regarding mewiki. It's Totally Broken And One Hundred Percent Borked. For some reason even a clean install of mediawiki with the data restored hasn't helped anything, I believe something regarding PHP has changed on the hosting server as I'm seeing issues across multiple PHP scripts.
I wasn't aware of the content spam. I will reload the database from backup and lock the site from further editing until I have decided what to do with regards to the site.

I think I could be one of the "firewalls". But what we really need is a good bug tracking system. I know about many MeGUI issues but I don't know where to sum them.
Also I have many ideas on how to improve MeGUI. I know it is very confusing for newbie users. So if you would use my assistance with sorting feedback and betatesting, let me know.

Regarding bugs tracker system : personally, I'm fine with the one from SF. I don't care about introducing a new one. The only important thing for me, it's to "educate" end users to describe as good as possible their issues/problems with the Graphical User Interface. That's related to Doom9's post...
Now, about the developpement : the most important is to have a project admin available (to close the bugs tickets at least :p) to manage the team and motivation from the developpers. I've some ideas to improve the design and some other feature requests in mind. I'll post them later. But for the moment, it's the bugs hunting...;)
Hope that some other people interested by the project will join the team. :)

i can still do the "managing" tasks and some bug hunting, but i have really no time to implement new features.
the point is the team needs a roadmap. coordination, priorities and someone which assigns tasks.
but considering the current number of ppl working on megui that's quite useless.

Make a forum with guest posting enabled ala CCCP and the problem will be solved pretty quickly.

we can make one on the SF project page but it will require someone to follow the discussions and answer questions on that forum...
