I been able to get video on the ps3 in H264 into a AVCHD using Tsremux, and the sound is detected as dts 5.1 multichannels.

I use Procoder 3 to convert Elephants Dreams into H264. I extract the audio with YAMB.

After that Remux them into a TS with Xmuxer 2.5.

Remux them in bluray structure using TSREMUX. Burn it in UDF 2.5 in Nero on a DVD-RW.

The video is little shaking (like a PC not powerfull enough) and the audio don't play, but it's reconize. (I think the PS3 have problem reading my DVD-RW.. I'll try with other format later)

It was the first time that I was able to get video working using H264 and TSREMUX.

and I did another test. Copy the 00001.m2ts into TVersity.. and It play really smoothly and the sound is surround. I have to encode Elephant dreams into mp4 with ac3 in it, to see the downmix effet.

I had encode Elephants Dream into mpeg2 + ac3 5.1 the sound look the same on my sound system.

If someone can try to do some tests to compare that will be appreciated. I can provide the movies encoded on request.

PS. Don't say it works in mp4.. in mp4 the sound is downmix to stereo... I hate stereo. and there is a 4 gigs limit too in mp4.

AVCHD with videosources from BD works for weeks (since FW 1.9).

Video sources can be: AVC, VC1, MPEG2
Audiosources. DD5.1, DTS, DTSHD, PCM

all play w/o any issues on the PS3

I hav a Problem with video sources with very high bitrates.
MPEG2 with nearly constant Bitrates between 35 -40Mbps and Avc with 35- >40Mbps (pirates od the Caribian) playing not perfect foom DVD9.

Remux the mainmovie from a BD with TSRemux keep the audiotrack of your choise, split with HDBDSplitGUI.exe in 8GB parts and Burn of DVD9, Pirates of the Ccaribian (AVC/h264) has piks up to 48Mbps.

Procoder3 + MP2TSME 4 = (same as before)ending up with a avchd that only has audio with fast forward trick.

I tried first with Procoder 1280x720 @ 24 FPS = shoppy video and no audio after blu-ray output.

Then 1280x720 @ 25FPS encoded only video with procoder and ac3 to 25fps with Belight >> Mux with MP2TSME 4 = shoppy video without sound... but fixed after fast forward!!!

For procoder output i use h264 raw, mpeg2 ts doesnt work for me.

I also tried AVC/AAC5.1 mpeg-2 ts with procoder
tsremux doesnt give errors but ps3 doesnt like it :S, To bad we cant mux ac3 into mpeg-2 ts

with h264info_alpha0011 you can change resolution from elementary stream without re-encode it!

-1280x544 to 1280x720
-level 5.1 to 4.1
-fps 23.967 to 25

but h264info will destroy the files :(

is there a tool known which can do this without demolish the elemantary streams????

did someone had a Conversion stalling with PC3 using the VBR 2 pass mode ?

I always get that. maybe my PC is not fast enough.. but still.. it's a bug. I'm trying CBR 2 pass.. The video stall on the second pass each time.

I have the codec pack KLite-full + CoreAVC.. what do you use ?

Didn't try yet

I got this message from Lance_79 on another forum

I extract my ac3 audio from mkv, then with foobar2000 v.0.8.3 converse to WAV (PCM 32bit floating-point)

I rename that file to audio.wav and put it into my besweet+belight folder then with this command: BeSweet -ota( -fs 48000 ) -core( -input audio.wav -output mono -6ch ) i create 6mono waves.

Create a *.mux file for belight copy and past following: save as audio.mux

monoFL.wav
monoC.wav
monoFR.wav
monoSL.wav
monoSR.wav
monoLFE.wav

Open belight, load audio.mux and use ,preset... AC3 5.1 448kbps, Hit Start processing and u'll have your new ac3 that u can load into encore without need

I've been trying (unsuccessfully) for about 2 weeks now to create an AVCHD from MKV.

I tried the PS3 mkv pass through - no good.
I tried demux/mux with procoder, yamb, mk this that and the other....

I then tried recode the video to 1280x720 mpeg2.
mux with ac3 to TS file.

I tried many ways.

TSRemux always throws up errors, either devide by zero, or out of array. Infact, the only success i ever have is with file created by nero.

I also tried making TSremux create a TS file instead of bluray.

This /seemed/ to succeed. I then loaded that back into TSremux to created blu ray. It failed.

Finally, I 've been reading that to make the ps3 detect a disc as avchd instead of data you have to burn udf 2.6, and some are saying the 8.3 file system is required( cus that's how nero alters it)

I installed isobuster and checked a nero avchd - it was udf 2.5 and the file structure was full file name.

It appears to me, that for most people this is still a bit early days. Maybe in six months there will be a definative guide.

ie: take your mkv

re-encode to this resolution in this codec.
demux your ac3

remux sing this software.

supply to TSRemux latest version

load files into imgburn UDF version

like i say, i think it's six+ months before it's even close.

for now i'll keep the files and tools i've downloaded and keep an eye on the subject hoping you geniuses out there can come up with the guide.

I do hope TSRemux continues and becomes what i hope it will, for now it's just too tempremental for me...

How did you get m2ts to play in TVersity. They do not show up due to the extension, if I rename to .mpg it either doesn't play or tries to re-encode, on an H265/AVC stream

I've not given up yet.

What i've been trying is to create an avchd from the 300 mkv that you can get from certain torrent sites.

I finally have a disc that plays in the ps3, BUT it's jerky and no sound.

What i did was demux the h264 and ac3 using mkv wizard.

The video is 1280x588 at 23.976 fps. from this website

http://www.avchd-info.org/format/index.html

i /think/ the film has to be 1280x720 at 24fps?

is this correct?

so i recoded using procoder to just that.

I muxed the result with the original ac3 using elecard muxer to a TS stream.

Now here is another thing, by default the stream IDs seem to be 16 17 and 18. Should i change them?

I then use TSRemuxer and burn in nero.

The M2ts stream plays with sound in nero, (although it's out of sync)
but the avchd disc has no sound, then every so often you get 5.1 for about 2 seconds?

So my questions are :=

do i need to recode to a compliant video stream? and what fps?

do i need to alter the ac3 so that it syncs.

when i mux do i state stream IDs and PIDs?

many thanks in advance.

thanks to lance_79. I been able to get my first AVCHD with H264 + 5.1 working.

I use the free movie Elephant's Dream HD 1080p with AC3.

tools used.
-1 avisynth (.avs) : my .avi
-2 besweet + belight : convert the ac3 to a new ac3 (to be reconize by Encore CS3)
command line : BeSweet -ota( -fs 48000 ) -core( -input audio.wav -output mono -6ch )

I need to find or the change the frame rate in this command line.
-3 convert the .avs with Elecard Studio converter into h264.
-4 import them in Encore CS3.
- overwrite the index and movie.bdmv with TSRemux files
- burn it with Nero UDF 2.5

Bingo.

remarks.. With theses steps, the h264 created should be reconize by Encore CS3 (no transcoding needed), but it didn't. Don't know why, but the ac3 track was perfect (except that I didn't change the frame rate, so I assume that I'll be no sync.

I need to find why the movie encoding with x264 4.1 level (all the settings supported by the PS3 mp4. No mp4info hack.. )

Ulead have released a plugin for MovieFactory. It adds AVCHD authoring, with menus, SD & HD resolutions, AC3, etc...

http://www.ulead.com/dmf/plugin.htm

AVCHD Authoring - Author HD content (from AVCHD or HDV camcorder, or any other HD source) and burn to a standard DVD using a standard burner.

* AVCHD discs with menus play back pristine HD video on your PC, Blu-ray Player or Sony PS3, or disc-based AVCHD camcorders.
* Supports standard screen sizes from SD screen sizes to HD 1440x1080 to 1920x1080 as well as PAL and NTSC systems.
* Audio formats include LPCM and Dolby® 2.0 or 5.1.

M2TS (Transport Stream) Import

* Import video files directly from AVCHD hard drive or memory card camcorders.
* DVD MovieFactory® 6 Plus opens M2TS files copied to your hard drive using other utilities.

Blu-ray Disc (BDMV) Authoring - Author HD productions in MPEG 2 HD format, with High Definition motion menus, and burn them to Blu-ray Disc.

* BD supports standard screen sizes from 720x480 to 1920x1080 as well as PAL and NTSC systems.
* Compliant video, (such as HDV) is not re-rendered - ensuring excellent picture quality and faster encoding times.
* Support for Dolby® 2.0 and 5.1 audio formats.
* Both single- and double-layer discs are supported.

I found theses directions in another forum for encoding a mkv video into an m2ts file:

You need (do a search on the usual sites):
MKVtoolnix
h264info_alpha0007
ffmpeg rev. 9260
Nero or any burn program that can create UDF 2.50 discs

1. Start MKVextractGUI.exe from MKVtoolnix

2. Insert your mkv file > click on sound and video stream and press extract. You will get a "track1" and a "track2.ac3" file.

3. Rename "track1" file to "track1.h264"

4. Start h264info_alpha0007 and insert the "track1.h264" file. In the small box on the right side (level 1-5.1) type "4.1". Select an output folder, an output name and press start.

5. Rename the new *.h264 file to "input.h264" and the *.ac3 file to *input.ac3"

6. Create a folder with a short and easy name in c:\

7. Put ffmpeg.exe, ffplay.exe, pthreadGC2.dll and the two video and sound files into this folder.

8. Go to the windows command line (I think it is "start" > "run" > "CMD" in english systems). Navigate to your folder.

9. type exactly the following (you can copy&paste from here):
ffmpeg -r 23.976 -f h264 -i input.h264 -f ac3 -i input.ac3 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f vob output.vob

10. Press enter and don´t care about the error messages you are seeing in the DOS box. Just let the program finish.

11. You will have a *.vob file now. Simply rename this file to *.m2ts

12. Start Nero > data DVD > UDF > settings > UDF 2.50
Drag the *.m2ts into Nero and burn.

13. Insert this disc in your PS3 and you will have a movie with untouched video quality and ac3 sound.

I followed all of the directions and it played good on my PS3, except for one problem, the audio is out of sync. I cannot figure out why.

Also, I have read a lot of topics on getting mkv files to play in a PS3, does anyone know what is the best way to accomplish this? The only thing I care about is the PQ. Stereo sound, resulting file size, encoding time, etc... I do not care about.

If someone could help me out, that would be awesome, thx.

Ok here's my dilemma.
I've been trying to convert a 720p 23.976fps x264+ac3 MKV into AVCHD.

What I've done:

1 - Use MKVextract the mkv file
2 - Use ffmpeg with the following syntax to mux the h264 and ac3 into a m2ts file:
"ffmpeg.exe -r 23.976 -f h264 -i input.h264 -f ac3 -i input.ac3 -vcodec copy -acodec copy -f vob output.m2ts"
3 - Load the m2ts file into TsRemux018
4 - Uncheck "Use async I/O"
5 - Select "Blu-Ray" as output format
6 - Burn the output using Nero 7 (UDF 2.6) on a DVD+RW
7 - Pop the disc in my PS3 (FW 1.93)

Now, the disc is detected as an AVCHD DVD+RW. However, when I click on it, it leaves from the XMBand enters the Blu-rRy player but the screen remains black and no sound is outputted.

Did I miss something? Why isn't this working?

I found an interesting post in this (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=556357) Forum. They use Sony Vegas to encode a compliant AVCHD m2ts stream an then import it in Ulead Movie Factory 6 with an addon for HD content.

"You can export your videos in Vegas using "Render As" and make m2ts avc/h264 videos with Dolby 2/0 or 5.1. These videos are compliant. If you use MovieFactory 6+ with patch#2 & the add-on HD burning pack you can create AVCHD disks that will play in the PS3, menus, chapters, etc.
As long as you do not edit the videos in MF6+ and have the switch "Do Not Convert Compliant Mpeg Video" active (checked ON), your source avc/h264 videos from vegas will not be re-encoded. When you go into the burning stage (MF6+ will burn directly to the DVD) this will be obvious the videos are not being re-encoded (do not alter or videos at all within the program or this activates the re-encode switch, so make sure when exporting from vegas the video is complete).

This is the method I've been using and it's working for my setup. The PS3 displays the disks created from MF6+ as an AVCHD disk and plays them similar to a dvd with menus."

This is the method I've been using and it's working for my setup. The PS3 displays the disks created from MF6+ as an AVCHD disk and plays them similar to a dvd with menus."

Interesting article but this doesn't seem to work with 720p. Furthermore, it requires re-encoding which will lead to quality loss and several hours spent. I'm still looking for a way to mux 720p avc with ac3 into a valid AVCHD media.

Yes I just noticed too!!!!!!!!!!!
My converted m2ts file plays 5.1 now - I noticed because the Sony music during initialization of the xmb played in 5.1!

Can firmware 2.01 still play 5.1 m2ts from XMB?
