I'm having trouble playing the dvd's that i burn on my dvd player. It plays on my computer just not on the dvd player. I've tried different brands of dvd-r but couldn't get it to work. I was just wondering if its the type of dvd or if its how i am burning it

Hi!I've tried different brands of dvd-r but couldn't get it to work.Your standalone player may only recognize DVD+R:

1) To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

2) Try burning at a lower speed (4x or 8x)

www.videohelp.com is a great resource on both computer and standalone drive, DVD, CD, and all.

Just chiming in :)

Are you finalizing your DVDs?

yeah, you have to authorize it first before burn it, except you do the full copy and 1:1 transfer, then it should be play.
otherwise try to lower writing speed, or your dvd player broken (happen with my dvd player, cant play any dvd now).
try a different dvd

Before you ask that question, did you check your DVD hardware's compatibility chart at www.videohelp.com ?

That is your first action.

Then, to finalize your discs, it will be an option before the final setting during your burning process (every burning software is slightly different, and calls it something slightly different)

What program is that? Are you letting Windows burn your discs?

Here are some common programs:

Nero
Roxio
Sonic RecordNow

There are also tons of freeware and shareware programs out there, which are probably not in use on your system.

Let us know

Gazelle: Take a step backwards and define a little better what you are doing. You say DVD player, do you mean the disc drive on your computer or a stand alone DVD player and copier? If computer, what program(s) are you using and what are you trying to copy?

The first post says "It plays fine in my computer, just not on my dvd player"...

I assume he means a hardware dvd player. And since he did go to www.videohelp.com and verify his dvd player can play dvd+rs which he is burning, I assume we're on the right track to figure out his problem.
