The title says it all, I am looking for some. VLC is giving me audio problems.

I am from the USA if that matters at all.

Hi!

What are the audio problems you are experiencing with VLC?

While in VLC the audio seems to skip at a regular rate. It's very irritating and makes watching DVDs unbearable. The DVDs are immaculate so it isn't because of skipping. Besides, the video isn't having any problems and it's at such a constant frequency it has to be a software issue.

Neither I, nor the multitude of members at this forum or other forums, who use VLC have experienced or posted regarding the difficulty you've described, so it doesn't seem likely that the fault lies with VLC.

1) Is it only one particular DVD that behaves this way under VLC?

2) Have you tried playing the DVD(s) on another PC system, to see if they exhibit the same behavior?

3) If you have an MPEG-2 codec installed on your system, you should be able to play the DVD using Windows' Media Player

Yeah so it turns out that i think it's a hardware issue....

tried two dvd's that were both in good shape and they both had the same error on multiple programs...

damnit.

Well, not to be a killjoy, but most freeware DVD players I've seen don't have the same bells and whistles as the purchased ones (you didn't get DVD player software with your DVD drive purchase? most people get something like PowerDVD or similar...)

In any case, I use Media Player Classic, and it seems to work fine.

Hope this helps

Media Player Classic
Mplayer (there is a very nice windows version now (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=112365))
AVS DVD Player (nice enough, free, full featured)

DONT EVER INSTALL K-LITE CODEC SHIT.
codec packs are always the no.1 source of EVIL.

DONT EVER INSTALL K-LITE CODEC SHIT.
codec packs are always the no.1 source of EVIL.Codec packs aren't bad if properly designed.

And by properly designed, I mean that they contain no redundant features. They install A to do B, and C to do D, and nothing more, and properly configure things.

K-Lite is so far off the mark from that concept though that its laughable.

MPlayer with SMPlayer front-end also serves well as DVD player (if you can live without menus ^^)

guys, think for the end users, like me. bunch of guys tell me 10 steps to install codecs, and it sux, many ppl here are not professional, they want something working, don't try to mess up things just for some smaller purpose like "efficient install of codec", it is not worth it
beside, k-lite have been working for me, it mess up my pc, i know of that, but still solid and working, imagine trying to explain all these fancy ideas to your dad when he only need to watch dvd on his pc
k-lite have no problem until now
i understand the fact some ppl experiene problem, but that is not the whole story.

Um...

You are in the wrong place to be touting 'ease of use versus ability to use correctly'... First of all, there is nothing difficult in installing the correct codecs to do your job. If you are in the least bit computer savvy (or are actually viewing these forums) then you are able to do everything you need.

Your analogy regarding your father wanting to watch a DVD??? Well, apparently he wants a DVD burned, and since he would be your father, and you're the computer savvy one, I'd assume you'd burn the DVD for him that will work in any standalone DVD player, right??
