Hi all, being a satisfied user of Autogk, since i have only one PC, i always suffer from waiting the completion of conversion(DVD/VOB -> AVI), while cannot use it to do other thing.

Now i got a better PC(config is listed below), just wonder if i can read some PDF doc(with Adobe Reader 8), and even browse the net(with Firefox) when Autogk is processing. The following are my question..

1. Will that affect the speed of conversion.(actually i know 'yes', but just ask if it will be huge delay)

2. Will the resulting avi file full of 'lag' when playback?

3. Will the resulting avi file most likely out of sync(sound and video not at the same step)

My current PC config:

CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E6300
RAM: 2GB
Display card: nvidia 7600GS
Harddisk: serial ATA 250GB
Wireless: Buffalo PCI wireless
OS: Windows XP SP2
Autogk v2.4

Thanks for any suggestion and recommendation :)

1. Yes. But, don't be a happy clicker. Click once and wait. Additionally, you can set the priority of AutoGK processes to below normal. However, this will slow down the encoding but will allow you to use your computer almost "normally".

2. No.

3. No.

There are some one-click encoders which do somehow manage to get out-of sync audio when doing other things on the PC, how they manage this I don't know. But using an avisynth method you have nothing to worry about.

My specs are nearly the same as yours (just 7600GS>6800GT), although I have a couple more HDs. I generally watch DVB on my second monitor, have some background apps running and even still don't think twice about burning a DVD at 16x whilst encoding.
