I'm looking for a player for my parents now that they have a HDTV and they also watch a bunch of bootleg asian shows as well as asian region movies. The key things I'm looking for are:
-Region unlockable (permanently)
-Supports a wide range of media most importantly crappy bootleg media
-Upscaled HD output to 720p (not interested in 1080i)
-Progressive playback/ignore pulldown
-DivX/XviD support (Prefer mediatek or whatever performs the best on the market)
-Handles aspect ratio well for DVDs and DivX/Xvid
I was able to find a lot of DivX/XviD players but getting info on upscaling, progressive output was hard.
