Black Screen playing any video type but working sound

Hello guys/galz
Well I got a problem I used to have working videos now i don't only thing i can think of is the new drivers i installed for ati for my 9600xt. But I tried to update my codecs I even took them all out. Well I seen on a few other post here and a few other forums I'm active on it says to turn off Video Video acceleration i had to totally turn it down to the lowest it would go and it kind of fixed my problem but my video was very jerky. But I took the new drivers out totally using Driver Heavens Driver Cleaner and re-installed the last driver i had on my back up hard drive but i still got this problem any one that can help me i would be in you dept.

What do you play video in? In most players you can change the output renderer, obviously the overlay (default) is just broken for you. VMR7 or 9 should work. WMP won't let you change without some work, though.

ok i norm use mplayer2 and media player classic but a tut to fix this problem would be very nice and thanks for responding to my thread

btw i got wmp 10 to play by doing Tools --> Options --> Performence --> Advanced --> uncheck Video overlay

In Media Player Classic, the option is similar. Just go to View/Options/Playback/Output and Select VMR9 in Directshow video, that should fix your problem in MPC.

You can also permanently disable (or maybe fix) overlay in DXDiag.
