Why can't we post in the News forum?

We can make new threads, but can't post replies... what's up with this? It doesn't seem to make much sense.

the news forum is for posting news when doom9 is away and such
its not meant for discussion..

If you want to talk about the news, just make a new thread in general (unless another forum better suits it). The news forum is meant for facts, rather than opinion discussions, even if some reporters inject rather a lot of it in there.
