My panasonic DVD recorder captures nice video, but oftentimes, after finalizing, I'm left with problems. Frequently the DVD won't play on all computers, usually because the menu that gets created is corrupt. And when this happens, copying the DVD become near impossible, requiring that I re-author the thing just to get a working problem-free copy.

So my "process" for making a copy is this:

1. Using MPEG Video Wizard, load the VOBS from the DVD, and burn a new compilation to the hard drive.

2. Using Imgburn in build mode, build the DVD and then burn it to DVD.

I did this process once and the results seemed pretty good! So far the thing plays everywhere (despite a low quality rating from the Nero Info tool)

Does this seem like a good process, or is there an easier way that I'm not thinking of? Just trying to get a copy as close to the original as possible.

Thanks for any opinions you have to offer!

I use a similar process, also with Womble, to fix the numerous errors of my cheap XiRON recorder. It has given good results so far, and an advantage is that you can use the seekbar of the software players without problem.

Risky suggestion: You could try to fix the menu problems with PgcEdit and its XiRON plugin. I wrote that plugin with the problems of the XiRON in mind, but it might work for the Panasonic as well.
