View Full Version : New copy protection for Blades of Glory?

First off, I already found a workaround to get done what I needed. I'm just looking for more information about what the problem is.

I normally run AnyDVD (latest version) then use DVDdecrypter for ripping when I want VOB files on my hard drive but with "Blades of Glory" it would get a little over half-way through then start giving I/O errors.

What was really weird was that when looking at the PGC's through DVDdecrypter it would show PGC1 under VTS_08 which is the movie (01:33:10) then a phantom PGC4 which is slightly longer (01:39:02). Anytime I tried to access either PGC1 or PGC4 directly off the DVD (keep in mind AnyDVD is running in the background) I would get I/O errors.

What I found as a solution was to use DVDfabDecrypter to rip the entire DVD to the hard drive then use vsrip to extract PGC1 from VTS_08. Funny thing is, after the DVD was copied to the hard drive PGC4 just disappeared! I also used chapterXtractor as I didn't see any options in DVDfabDecrypter to rip the chapter info like in DVDdecrypter.

I apologize for any spelling or grammar mistakes, I had day surgery this morning and the yummy drugs are still floating around in my head a little.

Some advanced schemes are countered by totally eliminating the phantom PGC.
