Is anyone else having problems backing up Blades of glory? I can get pgcEdit to decrypt it but when I try watching the copy, I only have the menu (no movie). I've also tried ripit4me,and keep getting an error. Please help.

PgcEdit plugin as a decrypter for advanced copy protection is long past its prime. You will need another solution.

Thanks. The solution seems so simple. I'll try it. I'll let you know if it works out for me.

It looks like they're already trying to pick on RipIt4Me flaws.

Download DVDFab Free (http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm) and do it that way. Unless the only problem RipIt4Me has is with the <> then do it with RipIt4Me minus AnyDVD.

I used RI4M 1.7.1 in wizard mode with no problem. At least no error messages.

Couldn't create target rip directory

just create a new name for target directory....the error is because it was including "< >" in the name, which new folders wont recognize. simple fix.

Thanks everyone. The target directory was what was wrong. I just removed < > from the title of the movie and all worked well. So again, thank you for your quick response.

Amazing what a < and > can do eh? Sometimes the solutions are so simple as to be comical. Once the < and > were removed from the title name, RipIt4Me breezed right through it. Seemed to stump AnyDVD though as they are still apparently waiting to get the retail DVD so they can get their program to work with it.

Fengtao of DVDFab figured it out straight away.

It's easier to crack a copy-protection when you have a disc ;)

This will all be a thing of the past with the new "AI Scanner(tm)"! I cannot wait for that to be implimented!

I know but seems when people send Slysoft the ifo's sometimes they still need the retail disk and as far as I know, Fengtao works everything out from the files people send him. Maybe that's why he's so much faster to update since he doesn't have to wait for a disk.

As I recall, this type of readily surmountable problem was first noted two or three years ago (when PSLs etc. were the best available ripping means) regarding one of the "Stuart Little" releases, that had a non-DOS character in its DVD title.

BTW - It should be apparent to all that RipIt4Me has no problem with the "Blades of Glory" DVD.

If you create your own folder/directory, using the movie's name, and a sub-folder/directory named "VIDEO_TS" and direct "RipIt4Me" to it as the "Target Directory", you'll never run into a problem with this "non-copy protection copy protection"...

Mike89: For some movies you will still need the actual DVD at hand. Fengtao still needs the DVDs sometimes just like the people at Slysoft do. I guess getting DVDs sent to China is quicker than sending it to a small, little island.

So true, I always set a new path for the "Target Directory" and have never had a problem. Blades of Glory was done with Ripit4Me on Linux with no problem.

How I got DVD Rebuilder and other programs working!

I'm really surprised at all the problems people are having with this. I copied the movie using AnyDVD 6.1.5.4 and DVD Shrink just like I use for everything. It copied without a problem. I didn't have to use RI4M or FixVTS. Also, dtvhacker said you aren't supposed to use AnyDVD. Why is that? I've never had a problem with it. It is my program of choice. My version wouldn't copy the new Delta Farce so I used RI4M for that one.

You're using a very old version of AnyDVD. Update please: http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=7502

Seems there is more going on with this movie regarding RipIt4Me than just removing the < and >. I did that and ran movie only. DVDD went through it fine but after "Do it" got the "possible scratch ..." message. Tried re-ripping (after cleaning disk) but kept getting IO errors. I gave up on that attempt and then tried RipIt4Me again on Full DVD. DVDD did it's thing again and I got no "possible scatch ..." message (after clicking "Do it"). Cleaned up VOBS. Then when trying to open DVD Shrink got this message, "Failed to open file "...\BLADES_OF_GLORY_4X3\VTS_08_6.VOB, The system cannot find specified".

I then tried to open this exact same VIDEO_TS folder with Recode and Recode had no problems opening it.

Just for the hell of it, I ran the movie again from scratch through DVDFab and DVDFab had no problems with it at all and then DVD Shrink would open it.

I've seen posts of others having no problems running this movie through RipIt4Me (with DVD Shrink) so it's got me scratching my head a bit. I could get a copy out of RipIt4Me but only by going "Full DVD" and only using Recode and not DVD Shrink. A bit strange. Going the other route with DVDFab and DVD Shrink was trouble free.

To Rip N Burn Blades Of Glory I Used With Success....ripit4me Using The Ripping Settings By Not Having Full Dvd...use The Movie+menu Only Tab,once It Was Done By Ripit4me And Dvd Decrypter Then I Finished With Dvd Fad Decrypter ....good Luck N Burn Baby Burn Lol
