Try searching on the internet to download converter which is able to do so. Write something like "mov to avi mpeg converter" and find something. Im new to this too, so i cant help you much.

Search out for the free/test version of "DivxToDVD" (v0.5.2.99). It can convert many different file formats in a variety of containers to MPEG-2/DVD.

I own also a kodak camera. I use open source utlity MP4cam2avi to do the conversion. Find it at:

Each has the ability to convert .mov to .avi or other formats.

I also recommend QuickTime Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm) instead of the regular, very intrusive, version of Quicktime.
