View Full Version : How can I make "My Computer" icons stay where I put them?

With all my partitions, drives, virtual drives etc I have 27 icons in my computer. I can rearrange them, so they are where I want, but every so often, for no apparent reason, windows decides to reset the positions again. Why does it do this and how do I convince them to stay put?

The main problem is my partition letters aren't in order (yeah I could fix this, but...) so I need the order I put them in to remember which partition is on which drive.

WinTidy lets you save and restore icon positions:

Thanks, but that seems to just work for the desktop. It's "My Computer" that keeps resetting. Why can't windows just do as it's told!?!

so I need the order I put them in to remember which partition is on which drive. Just put the drive number in the partition name:

1:Windows
2:MyData
2:Apps

Have you turned off Auto Arrange?
