make sure that you have the needed dshow filters installed

If they play OK in WMP, they ought to play OK in MPC. Same decoder is used in both (WMV Decoder DMO).
Does MPC give any sort of error? Can you build a working graph in GraphEdit?

are you sure that there couldnt be some wmp-specific things be kicking in (eg wmv parsers?) making it work in wmp, but not in other players?

VC-1 playback works in MPC if WMP11 is installed.
The TS should give more details.

WMF SDK has a component called qasf.dll which enables using DMO decoders in DirectShow. So if WMP is installed, then qasf.dll is installed... and then all DirectShow apps can use DMO decoders such as the WMV decoder. So basically - if you got WMP installed and you can play WMV video in WMP - you ought to be able to play it in any other DShow player too.

Sportcenter, you might want to try reinstalling WMP11, see if that helps.

As i say in the other Forum, Tell use which Filter/Decoder are active whwn you start a wmv(wvc1) in mpc.
Take a look into Play/Filters
For example SonicCinemasterVideoDecoder
Block these Filters and manually select WMVideodecoderDMO.
Or simply set ffdshow to wvc1
Should be no bigger Problem to play wvc1/wmv in mpc
