How to prevent multiple instances of MPC?

As the title says, is there anyway to run only a single instance of MPC. The examples would be like running outlook express or windows media player (11?) where if I click multiple times on the icon, it would only bring the program into focus and not launch another instance of the same program.

Have you tried:

Options -> player (the topmost) -> Open Options - "Use the same player for each media file" ?

I use this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=128616) version.

However, I don't know if that would result with desired behavior (I haven't tried it).

What you said only makes the same mpc play files as you open them like with double click.
What Frans wants is to have only one mpc instance always, so if you double click on the mpc executable it brings it to focus instead of opening another copy of it, witch from my experience is not currently possible.

Changing the shortcut to MPC to "mplayerc /add" should fix that - can't say if it has other side-effects, though...

Frans, just do what Leak said and it will work as you want.
(like "C:\Program Files\Media Player Classic\mplayerc.exe" /add)

Yes, it work beautifully. Thanks everyone :) I didn't know the /add could do this. I already use mplayerc/? to bring out the list of switches, and I never thought the /add switch could be used for what I want.

No. This is one of MPC's command line parameters, and of course it will only work for MPC.
