I now have a problem burning DVDs. I have Verbatim discs and I still get the same error. I have used DVD Decrypter (with DVD Shink) or DVDFab.
The error is:

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Welcome to Doom9.

Please post the full log. It seems the drive can't read your blank DVD.

That is all it say in a box when it tries to "verify" after it burns.

Is there some where I can look to get the full log?

Thanks

It seems you didn't keep the full burn log.

Try again, but switch to ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) - it is an upgrade of DVD Decrypter's burn engine.

Check out this link:

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia/sony-dvd-r-sony16d1-16/3192

Note that almost all the reports at 2X, 2.4X and 4X list the burn quality as Poor. Either step up your burning to 8X or try different media, preferably +R.

Yes, switch to Taiyo Yudens or Verbatim blanks and give them a try. Also see if there is a firmware update for the burner.

I have a Gateway notebook but I do not know where to get firmware updates. At Gateway I ran all the updates. But none were offered for the burner. Is there some where else I can check?

Tell me the truth, is it time to take in the computer?

Did you try the firmware update?

Did you try burning at 8X?

Did you try a different source file?

Tell me the truth, is it time to take in the computer?
You can get an external burner for less money than it will cost to have the laptop looked at, as long as it has USB 2.0 or firewire.
