Hi!

I'm experiencing strong variations on audio volume when watching certain titles in WinDVD. Most notably in Casino Royale (German region 2 edition using the English language 5.1 soundtrack). WinDVD automatically lowers the volume considerably after loud bangs/explosions. All audio effects in WinDVD are switched off (night mode etc.) and I'm using 2-speaker stereo mode. This problems also occurs when playing the DVD through Windows Media Player 9 which apparently uses WinDVD's AC3 filter iviaudio. I've also tried WinDVD versions 6 and 8, running on different machines with fresh installations of Win2K and WinXP (no other third party codecs installed). With every combination I suffer from the same problem.

Other players like Media Player Classic don't suffer from this problem.

Does anyone know a solution for this? I like WinDVD for its time stretch feature, but this volume problem is most annoying so I would have to switch to an alternative player, if this problem can not be solved.
