i have cce sp and i have been trying my damn hardest to use its ultra high quality low bitrate encoding capabilities to stuff the first five friday the 13th movies on one dvd5. it has so far worked pretty damn well, but one of them is divx3 low motion and for the life of me i cant get the audio and video to sync right, even though they always match in lengh after im done encoding them.
i load it up all nice with fit cd and avisynth so its 352 by 240, with "changeFPS (23.976)" just in case even though the source video is 23.976. i load it into cce sp, i select the non dvd standard template so it wont encode it in 720 by 480. choose variable bitrate, lower the min bitrate to 2, set max at 8000. set target video file size to 750mb (5 movies on one dvd) which changes the average bitrate to around 1000.
i select 4:3 ar and 3:2 pulldown and 23.976 fps. if i dont do the pulldown and just set the avi to 29 it looks like crap, all choppy and stuff. all my other encodes did perfectly fine with the above settings, with suprisingly high quality video for it being such small mpg files.
i usualy encode the audio separately with tmpgenc xpress 4 into dual chanel ac3. afterwords the lengths show as being the same, but when i load them together in tmpgenc dvd author 1.6 and watch it to test it the audio is always about half a second later than the video by the end. at the beginning its matched up. i have tried constant bitrate encoding it together into a mpeg file with just cce, still off, not to mention the video looks like crap. i have tried encoding the mpa at the same time in variable and the same crap happens too.
side question, when i load these specific low-bit encoded dvd files into tmpgenc dvd author it always tells me my gop framerate is too high, i know this doesnt matter and you can ignor it but i would like to know how to set cce so it makes the correct gop lengh. cce sp's gop settings are confusing.
