Using MPC or other media player without mouse?

I have this one simple thing to ask. Can I change focus to playlist after I press ctrl+7 with keyboard only (as in not moving the mouse pointer)? I ask this because I want to use MPC and controlling it via Bluetooth HID device (in this case, Sony Ericsson phone). Everytime I want to pick something from my playlist, I'm forced to pick up my mouse. It's kinda annoying. My ideal workflow would be when running MPC, if I press ctrl+7, the keyboard would focus on the playlist, and if I press ctrl+7 again, the playlist would close. Currently, when it focused at the playlist, pressing ctrl+7 would do nothing. Am I missing some keyboard shortcut?

Other than that, what is the ideal media player that isn't too bloated, but can be navigated easily with keyboard shortcut only? and free of course :)

Are you aware that you can go to View | Option | Keys and view or change the key assignments? The ones you probably want are Toggle Playlist, Next Playlist Item and Previous Playlist Item. Setting Toggle Playlist to Ctrl-7 sounds like it would do what you want.

Yes, I'm aware of that. The thing is, when you use next playlist item, if I'm not mistaken, MPC will scan that item. If I'm currently playing the first item on my playlist, but suddenly I want to go to the tenth item, then every time I use next playlist item it will pause for a moment for 9 times.
What I want is the ability to scroll the playlist item after I press ctrl+7 without using mouse to focus on the playlist menu. Or it would be fine if the next playlist item key didn't automatically scan/play the next item.
