Hello...
I have a dvd that someone made, I'm guessing, with widescreen cameras. The problem is that it looks like they tried to make the dvd anamorphic but it isn't. I've tried it with MPC and PowerDvd and both just show it vertically stretched.
I'm wanting to convert it to either be anamorphic or letterboxed (preferrably anamorphic, obviously). What programs can I use to do so? I've used TmpgEnc to go from widescreen .avi to anamorphic .mpg, but not straight from dvd.
The files are currently 1 .ifo and 1 .vob. It was ripped in ifo mode in dvd decrypter.

I'm guessing that you're referring to downloaded movies.
Let me clarify...
My dad is a preacher and he was given a dvd of the message that he preached at the church.
Does that make it not illegal?

Use PgcEdit. Right-click on the movie PGC, and select Domain Stream Attributes. Select 16:9 letterboxed or 16:9 pan&scan, or both. (Usually, 16:9 letterboxed only is the best choice.) Save the IFOs. That's all.

Note that the aspect ratio is also recorded in the VOB files, but since the IFOs have precedence, you should not need to modify them. However, if you want to patch the VOBs also, use DVDPatcher (http://www.wincesoft.de/html/dvdpatcher.html).
